Vision blinds explained

Privacy and light — both at once

Vision blinds use alternating transparent and opaque fabric bands on a double-roller mechanism. When the bands are aligned, the room is flooded with natural light. When offset, you get full privacy without plunging the room into darkness — you can still see out clearly, but people outside cannot see in.

Made to measure at our Bury St Edmunds factory, the vision fabric range includes sheer metallics, delicate tones and natural wood weave effects. You can also add matching or contrasting pelmets for a more finished look. They suit living rooms and bedrooms particularly well, where the balance between light and privacy changes throughout the day. Motorised vision blinds are available too, which is worth considering for wider windows. Vision blinds are also available in the Perfect Fit frame system — ideal for UPVC windows and doors where you want a no-drill installation.

Questions

Common questions about vision blinds

What's the difference between vision blinds and roller blinds?

Vision blinds have two layers of fabric — one sheer, one opaque — that slide to different positions to control light and privacy independently. Roller blinds are a single layer: either open or closed. Vision blinds offer much more nuance.

Can I still see outside with vision blinds in the privacy position?

Yes — that's exactly their appeal. With the bands offset for privacy, you can see out clearly but people outside cannot see in. It works best in daylight; at night the effect reverses.

Are vision blinds suitable for bedrooms?

Vision blinds are available in blackout fabrics, so they can work well in bedrooms. They won't give a complete blackout like a dedicated blackout roller blind, but they do a good job of darkening a room while still giving you the option of filtered light during the day.

Do you make them on site?

Yes — vision blinds are one of the three products we manufacture at our Eastern Way factory in Bury St Edmunds. This gives us full control over quality and means shorter lead times than ordering from a supplier.

How do you clean vision blinds?

A damp cloth or a light dusting is all they need. The fabric is smooth and doesn't trap dust the way pleated blinds can. For stubborn marks, a gentle wipe with warm soapy water does the job.

Are vision blinds available in Perfect Fit?

Yes — vision blinds are available in the Perfect Fit frame system. They clip straight into UPVC windows and doors with no drilling, so you get the light and privacy control of a vision blind with a completely clean, no-screw installation.

Can vision blinds be motorised?

Yes. Vision blinds work well with battery-powered motors — no wiring needed. You get remote or app control, and the blind still looks the same from the outside. We can demonstrate a motorised vision blind during your home survey.

Do you fit vision blinds near me in Suffolk?

We fit vision blinds across Bury St Edmunds, Newmarket, Thetford, Brandon, Sudbury, Haverhill, Stowmarket and the surrounding Suffolk and Norfolk areas. Call us or book a free survey to check your postcode.

How long do vision blinds take to arrive?

Because we manufacture vision blinds on site at our Bury St Edmunds factory, lead times are typically shorter than ordering from an external supplier. We'll give you a firm timescale during your survey.
