Roller blinds explained

The most versatile blind for modern homes

Roller blinds are the most popular window covering we make, and for good reason. Clean lines, simple operation, and a fabric range that runs from sheer voiles to full blackout. Every roller blind we sell is hand made at our Bury St Edmunds premises on Eastern Way. That means faster turnaround, consistent quality, and someone who truly knows the product when you have a question.

We source our fabrics from trusted UK suppliers including Louvolite, Eclipse Blinds and Decora Blinds, and we only use the best quality components. Whether you need a simple white blackout for a bedroom, a solar fabric for a sun-facing living room, or an opulent patterned fabric with a matching pelmet, we'll bring samples to your home and help you choose.

Rollers can also be motorised with battery or mains-powered motors, controlled by remote or your phone. For homes with young children, we offer cordless and wand-operated systems as standard. Fitting is carried out by our own team, not subcontractors.

Questions

Common questions about roller blinds

Can you make roller blinds for wide windows?

Yes, we can make extra-wide roller blinds using a twin-blind system so they operate smoothly. Two blinds mounted on the same bracket give you the coverage of a wide blind without the weight or sag.

Do you offer blackout roller blinds?

Yes, we stock blackout, light-filtering and day-night options in hundreds of fabrics. Blackout roller blinds are the best choice for bedrooms, and they also work well in TV or gaming rooms where you need to reduce light. The overall effect is to dim the room rather than block every last ray, because there are always slight gaps at the edges of the fabric.

How long does fitting take?

A typical fitting visit takes 30 to 60 minutes depending on the number of windows. We'll confirm a time slot that suits you and aim to be in and out with minimal disruption.

Are roller blinds suitable for bathrooms?

Standard roller blind fabrics can go mouldy in warm, moist conditions, so they're not ideal for bathrooms as they are. However, we carry a selection of washable roller blind fabrics designed for damp rooms, plus a range of PVC fabrics that wipe clean and resist moisture. We'll recommend the right option during your survey.

Can you fit roller blinds in a conservatory?

Yes, and we fit a lot of them. If your windows have handles that get in the way, we can reverse-roll the fabric so it comes down in front of the handle rather than behind it. Bear in mind there will be small gaps where blinds meet in the corners of a conservatory, but this is normal and unavoidable with any blind type.

Do roller blinds work on bi-fold doors?

They do. Our rollers can be made wide enough for any bi-fold door, although larger openings may need several blinds side by side to cover the full span. We'll measure up and show you the best arrangement during the home survey.

Can roller blinds be motorised?

Yes. Roller blinds are one of the most popular types to motorise. Battery or mains-powered motors fit inside the headrail, and you control the blind with a remote or your phone. It's a good option for hard-to-reach windows, large spans, or if you just want the convenience.

Do you fit roller blinds near me in Suffolk?

We fit roller blinds across Bury St Edmunds, Newmarket, Thetford, Brandon, Sudbury, Haverhill, Stowmarket and the surrounding Suffolk and Norfolk areas. Call us or book a free survey to check your postcode.
