A Family Business Built on Experience
When people walk into our showroom on Eastern Way in Bury St Edmunds, they’re usually a bit surprised. They expect a small shop; what they find is a proper workshop where we actually make blinds, a showroom full of samples, and a family who genuinely care about getting your windows right.
I’ve been in the blind industry for over 35 years. I started out after leaving the RAF, and what was meant to be a steady job turned into a real passion. After 24 years in a previous partnership, I launched 1 Stop Blinds in 2019 with a simple idea: do things properly, treat people well, and make the best blinds we can.
It’s a proper family affair. I run the business alongside my wife Clare and our son David. Between us, we handle everything — from the first phone call to measuring up, manufacturing in the workshop, fitting, and the aftercare that follows.
Why We’re Different
There are plenty of places to buy blinds. You can order them online, pick them up from a big DIY shed, or find someone on a marketplace app. So why come to us?
We make blinds here in Bury St Edmunds. Our workshop on Eastern Way is where the real work happens. When you order vertical blinds or roller blinds from us, they’re manufactured right here — cut to your exact measurements, assembled by hand, and checked before they leave the building. That level of control means we can get things exactly right, and if anything ever needs adjusting, we’re just down the road.
You deal with the same people from start to finish. You won’t get passed between departments or talk to a different person every time you call. Clare, David, or I will look after you throughout — from that first conversation about what you need, through the measuring and fitting, and for any questions that come up afterwards.
We come to you. Our free home survey means we measure your windows in your home, with your light, your décor, and your ideas right there in front of us. We bring samples so you can see how fabrics and colours look in your actual rooms — not under shop lighting. It makes an enormous difference to getting the right result.
We’re BBSA members. The British Blind and Shutter Association sets the standard for our industry. Membership means we’re fully insured, we comply with all current regulations (including UK child safety law), and we operate to a professional code of conduct. It’s an assurance that you’re dealing with a business that takes quality and safety seriously.
